Why do BMX bikers rest their bikes upside down?

June 8th, 2010 · 3 Comments · Trends

I’ve seen this a lot when the bikers aren’t riding and I don’t know if it’s just a trend or if it actually helps maintain the bike.

How to choose a good bicycle for traveling?

    June 6th, 2010 · 2 Comments · Trends

I am tending to do a trip to a place where renting bicycles is a common trend for travelers to do the area which includes hard slops up and down. I know nothing about bikes, so anyone can give an advice on what to look for when renting one?

    Thanks

Why do teenage boys ride such little bikes?

    June 2nd, 2010 · 4 Comments · Trends

Is this some kind of fashion trend or something? I’ve seen it in Missouri and Minnesota, so I know it’s not just a local thing. Boys who look to be in the 13-15 year old range (maybe even a little older in some cases) ride these bikes that look like they are made for more like an 8-10 year old.

What rules do you follow when waving to other motorcyclists?

    May 31st, 2010 · 35 Comments · Trends

This being my first year on a bike, I’ve noticed a lot of different trends.

Some people simply do not wave.
Some people seem to wave no matter what.
Some people won’t wave to riders outside of their bike’s category (sport bike riders-harley/general cruisers)

    What rules do you follow?

    Me:
In town, its usually more of a head.
I don’t usually wave first to other sport bike riders since so many seem to ignore it. but I’ll almost always give some sort of finger lift.

who makes the best full suspension mountain bike?

    May 30th, 2010 · 4 Comments · Trends

I’m starting to get back into mountain biking and haven’t been keeping up on all the latest trends. I know trek had a great think going in the Y series, just wondering how those compare to the current market?

    winter biking advice?

    May 28th, 2010 · 6 Comments · Trends

Starting next year, I might get into the ditch your car trend. I will bike to school, work, etc. even in the winter. But winter biking seems a little too much. What can I do/buy to withstand the elements, get places with ease, and still look presentable at work. What bikes are meant for winter? What can I do to prevent damage? Anything else related would be good. Thank you so much.

Why are fixi bikes all the trend now?

    May 23rd, 2010 · 4 Comments · Trends

Wth, a bike without brakes and chained to the rear wheel? Cannot coast without pedaling? What makes these bikes so "cool" and "trendy"?

    May 22nd, 2010 · 2 Comments · Trends

i have been hearing many stories with "fixie this" and "fixie that". what is so attractive to these bikes?
i was just wondering, because i just got my first SS/fixed gear bike today (mountain bike background), and i dont see much too special with it, at least when compared to other road bikes of similar quality.
what is the trend with them?

    My latest observations from China

    February 20th, 2010 · No Comments · Trends

As I mentioned last week, I want to share a few general observations about bicycle use in China. Some of you may remember a post from September of 2008 in which I said that there seemed to be less bikes overall on the roads (I realize I should have said fewer, but cut me some slack…I was still jetlagged). In that post, I pointed out that many of the bicycles that I had seen on previous trips had been replaced with mopeds, motorized scooters, motorcycles, and even electric bikes. I was back in China a couple more times in 2009, and on each trip that same trend toward motorized transport (and away from the traditional Flying Pigeon bikes and pedal powered cargo trikes) seemed to be continuing.
