How fragile are different bicycle frame materials, especially cannondale?

June 5th, 2010 · 10 Comments · Cannondale

I’m looking to buy a new bicycle, i think i’m going to get a cannondale and i’ve been researching frames and my options are aluminum, carbon, or alloy. It will be a road bike and everywhere i read i find warnings saying how fragile these bikes are, particularly the carbon and aluminum, that if the drop or anything it might dent or crack. I don’t race a whole lot but i want something that i can have for a while but will also be very comfortable riding for long periods of time. Does anyone have good advice or experience with these frames and can tell me if these are huge factors that I should worry about or are the warnings just because it has happened a few times.

Why do teenage boys ride such little bikes?

June 2nd, 2010 · 4 Comments · Trends

Is this some kind of fashion trend or something? I’ve seen it in Missouri and Minnesota, so I know it’s not just a local thing. Boys who look to be in the 13-15 year old range (maybe even a little older in some cases) ride these bikes that look like they are made for more like an 8-10 year old.

winter biking advice?

May 28th, 2010 · 6 Comments · Trends

Starting next year, I might get into the ditch your car trend. I will bike to school, work, etc. even in the winter. But winter biking seems a little too much. What can I do/buy to withstand the elements, get places with ease, and still look presentable at work. What bikes are meant for winter? What can I do to prevent damage? Anything else related would be good. Thank you so much.

What is better for commuting Cannondale Bad Boy or the Road Warrior?

May 26th, 2010 · 4 Comments · Cannondale

I am starting to commute with a bike everyday, about 5 miles, I want to buy a Cannondale but I am undecided between the Bad Boy and the Road Warrior.

I want to buy and American made bike because I had had bad experiences with cheapos from Wal Mart. I prefer to pay more and get more quality.

Any other American made bikes out there for daily use?
